Last year in September, Grow Wild and the Bearpit Improvement Group got together with Groundwork South and local residents to transform a submerged Bristol roundabout. By showing it some wild flower love they were able to help create positive change for their local community by getting hands on at planting days allowing everyone to get involved.
This year with the delay in construction works all our greening plans have had to be postponed. Fear not! By winning the grant from Grow Wild, we will be realising a wildflower mobile garden.
This has been the creation of Miriam Delogu, owner of Bearpit Social and one of the Director’s of the Bearpit Improvement Group. We will be working with Incredible Edible Bristol and PRSC to create something truly remarkable. This will kickstart out Greening plans whilst the constructions carries on.
The People’s Garden will start off with colouring up the Bearpit with 6 unique tetris themed mobile planters with incorporated seating. This whole project is all about learning the important role wildflowers play to our ecosystem and offer the public a unique setting to spend some time in the space.
We will be running a 3 community building days to realise the project. We aim to launch the garden on the 27th September so if you’re interested in getting involved keep up to date by following @bearpitsocial on Twitter or just pop by the Bearpit Social shipping container.
We will be releasing the dates of the community events soon.
