The Bearpit now has a vintage Bristol VR double decker bus. On the evening of Sunday June 22, it was carefully lifted into place from the St James Barton roundabout by a huge crane.

At the same time. the two containers for Bearpit Social and Bear Fruit were craned in, enabling them to start trading again.

Two years in the planning by the Bearpit Improvement Group, the bus had been stored in goods yards in St Werburgh’s and Avonmouth.

Some of its windows have been converted into a serving hatch and there will be seating both inside and out. It will be opened as a new cafe in the autumn, after the fitting-out has been completed.
