On Wednesday 26th October the Bearpit Improvement Group held its Annual General Meeting at the Surrey Vaults on Surrey Street. This is always a good opportunity for members to come along and get involved with the Group’s work and there was a good turn out.
Each year at the AGM the current directors stand down and a new board is elected. Directors may stand for re-election and often do so, but it is also an opportunity to get some new faces and talent on the board. This year, five of the nine incumbent directors stood and were re-elected and four new members were elected to the board. The current board members are (in alphabetical order):
- Benoit Bennett
- Chris Chalkley
- Robin Halfpenny
- Kat Hegarty
- Richard Jones
- Sue Kilroe
- Alan Morris
- Lorna Perks
- Caitlin Telfer
Outgoing directors were Chairman Mike Thorne, Miriam Delogu, Tina Hart and Sara Venn, all of whom chose to stand down.
At the board meeting following the AGM, Kat Hegarty was elected Chair of the board of directors and Richard Jones was elected Vice-Chair.
Kat says: “The following year is going to be really exciting with lots of collaboration with various community groups who will be providing fantastic, lively activities in the space. As always, if you want to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.”
